I ordered directly from SOK and had the 100 Ah marine version shipped directly to my house. It arrived fast and very well packaged. I use it for various things. So, it's not in a permanent install and I charge it manually with a bench power supply. I've put it through three completely discharge/charge cycles and a number of other partial cycles. The capacity is about 112 Ah, so above the stated capacity. The cells are all very consistent with only 0.004 V difference.
I like having an app to monitor via Bluetooth, but the app could use some improvements. For example, the app won't reconnect to the battery if it loses the connection. You have to kill the app and restart it. It's only a minor inconvenience.
There some other features that would be very nice to have, like the ability to switch the output on and off via the app. This would make connecting and disconnecting the battery much easier. As it is, with live terminals all the time, you have to be careful and do things like use a pre-charge resistor to avoid sparks. I mentioned this to the tech support and they said they spoke to the developers and would include it in a future BMS. So, it's nice they listen and respond. Unfortunately, they did say it would probably require new BMS hardware, not just an app update.
It would also be nice to be able to increase the shut-off voltage so it does have to go all the way to 0% before cutting off. The ability to make the shutoff require a manual reset would be nice too. As it is, the voltage eventually rises again and will cycle off and on until you disconnect it. The same goes for the charge cutoff. It would be nice to have to full-charge cutoff require manual reset so it doesn't keep cycling. All of these, would just be nice to have, but overall a great battery.
Bluetooth is a nice bonus! 2 complete charge/ discharge cycles to calibrate SOC. So far so good. Putting it on the rv tomorrow.
This is my 1st experience with Solar. So far the SOK battery is living up to it's specs. The only thing that I would of appreciated is that there was a guide for the SOK software. I wasn't even aware it existed until I discovered it in a forum and FB posts. Be nice to better understand what the software shows.
Like the quality build of the SOK Marine 100AH battery. Like the weight, and the app communication. Used it one so far on My heavy Kayak. Moves it at 4 mph, Look forward to using it for years to come. SOK Batteries may be the only ones I need and want. Thank you
I purchased (2) 100am/hr SOK batteries to replace 2 lead acids for my house bank on my sailboat. Combined with 200 watts of solar and a Victron MPPT charge controller I can run my boat’s refrigerator continuously without using shore power for charging. It’s such an improvement and exceeds my expectations. It’s so nice not to constantly be worrying about not damaging my batteries by excessively discharging them when not connected to shore power. The batteries seem to be very well made and perform better than I anticipated. I would definitely consider buying SOKs again and recommend them to anyone wanting to upgrade to Lithium.
